Ride TriMet to These Indoor Activity Spots

Rainy, cold, grey days are just part of life here for seven to eight months per year. Even though our NW winter and spring can be harsh, there are lots of fun things to do inside. From mini golf to rock climbing and escape rooms to arcades, there are all kinds of indoor activities to keep us busy. Here’s a list of places in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties you can visit to beat the boredom while staying dry and having fun. They’re all accessible by TriMet, so you won’t have to worry about parking, gas prices or congestion.

Escapology

Group collaboration, real-life mysteries and hands-on brain teasers come together at Escapology, where you work with others to problem-solve challenges within a limited amount of time in a themed room. You’ll be “locked” in a room where you and the other players work together to find clues and decipher puzzles in order to “escape.” But, don’t worry, it’s all totally safe and very fun, and their staff is there to help out if you need hints or guidance.

North Clackamas Aquatic Park

With water slides, a wave pool, 400,000 gallons of water that’s always at 86 degrees and so much more, the North Clackamas Water Park is one of our favorite things no matter the season. There’s also a hot tub, an interactive fountain and a rock wall. It’s great for families, and they have lap swim and other water fitness classes, so there’s something for everyone. It’s a wonderful spot, plus there are multiple nearby bus stops, making getting there easy.

Stronger Skatepark

We like what Stronger Skatepark has going on. They have a killer set up with street areas, ramps, a mini bowl and more. Skateboards, freestyle scooters, roller blades and roller skates commingle at regular sessions, and bikes are welcome on certain nights (check their website).  They also have all kinds of cool programs and regular activities, like their After School Skate Club, plus camps and lessons.

Interactive art, lights, sounds and…trampolines come together for an immersive experience at Hopscotch in SE Portland. You can dance in the swirling lights and swim in the ball pit as you work your way through the surreal art installations. It’s a sensory overload, but in a good way. And it’s kid-friendly, too.

You can learn to climb or just practice your skills at the Portland Rock Gym, a well-known spot for climbers of all skill levels. It’s a good spot for families, a date or just going solo. There are all kinds of awesome climbing challenges that will keep your body and mind engaged. They also have yoga and fitness classes, which is a nice way to stretch and “get loose” before climbing. There’s a bus stop literally next to the building, so getting there on transit is super easy.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park

This is a photo of the exterior of Sky Zone Trampoline Park.

“Trampoline” is in the name, but there’s so much more at Sky Zone Trampoline Park. Besides big bounces on trampolines, you can hop on the zip line, swing on the trapeze, test your parkour skills on their freestyle course or join a bouncy, high-flying dodgeball game. It’s very family friendly and kids will almost certainly be tired out from all of the fun. The location is easily accessible by several bus lines.
